Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2026

BarcodeScanner ("we", "this site") is designed so there is almost nothing to disclose — but here is the full picture in plain language.

1. Your scans never leave your device

Camera frames and uploaded images are decoded locally on your device using the browser's native detector or a locally-bundled decoder. They are never sent to our servers. We have no user accounts, so there is no profile, identifier, or server-side history tied to you.

2. Local storage only

Scan history (up to 100 entries) and your theme preference are stored in your own browser's localStorage. Use "Clear all" in the tray to erase history, or clear site data in your browser settings to remove everything. Nothing persists anywhere else.

3. No tracking cookies or analytics beacons

We do not set tracking cookies, run analytics scripts, or fingerprint your browser. The page loads font files from Google Fonts' CDN, which may log standard request data (such as your IP address) under Google's own privacy policy — that is the only third-party request the site makes.

4. Outbound links

When you tap "Open link" on a QR result, your browser navigates directly to that URL. Preview URLs before opening — QR codes can point anywhere, and the destination site is governed by its own privacy policy.

5. Contact emails

If you email us, we receive whatever you send (your address and message) and use it only to reply. We never sell, share, or add it to a mailing list.

6. Children

The site is a general-purpose utility with no age gate and no data collection; it is safe for all ages precisely because nothing is collected.

7. Changes

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date. Questions? Contact us.
