Terms & Conditions

Last updated: September 2026

By using BarcodeScanner at freebarcodescanner.com ("the Service"), you agree to these terms.

1. The service

The Service is a free, browser-based barcode scanner and reader. It is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. All decoding runs locally on your device; we operate no accounts and store none of your scans.

2. Acceptable use

Use the Service only for lawful purposes. Do not attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, scrape at abusive rates, or misrepresent the Service as your own. You are responsible for complying with laws that apply to the codes you scan and the data you export (for example, handling personal data contained in a barcode under your local privacy laws).

3. Accuracy

Decoding depends on image quality, lighting, and your browser's capabilities. Always verify critical values — prices, serials, medical or shipping identifiers — against the source before acting on them. We are not liable for errors in decoded output.

4. Outbound links

QR codes can encode any URL. Every link result carries an "external target" notice: inspect the decoded address before opening it. We are not responsible for the content, safety, or privacy practices of third-party sites.

5. Intellectual property

The site's design, text, and code are owned by us; the underlying decoding libraries belong to their respective open-source authors. Your scanned values and exports are yours.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.

7. Changes

We may update these terms; continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance. Questions about these terms? Contact us.
